Statement of Values

The librarians and staff of Neumann Library place the highest value on providing welcoming, courteous and professional service to all of our users. We provide diverse, unbiased scholarly collections and technologies to encourage and make possible the achievement of personal, institutional, and community goals. In particular we acknowledge:

  • The intellectual freedom and privacy rights of our users
  • The need to treat users, colleagues, and each other with respect and fairness
  • The need to listen and be responsive to our users, institution, and community
  • The creativity, initiative, and teamwork that we each must exhibit in order for the library to fulfill its mission
In addition, we embrace and strive to uphold all of the values and principles enumerated in the American Library Association's Core Values of Librarianship, its Library Bill of Rights, and its Code of Ethics.
