UHCL students, faculty, staff, and Affiliate Borrowers may request items from other libraries in the University of Houston system. Requested items will be transferred to your campus of choice via courier service.
UHCL students, faculty, and staff may also use their university ID cards to borrow directly from other libraries in the University of Houston system. UHCL parking passes are not valid at other UH campuses, so please check the campus's parking regulations before visiting.
How to Request an Intercampus Loan to UHCL
You will be notified via email when the item has arrived at the selected campus.
Items not picked up within one week from date of arrival at the selected campus will be sent back to their home libraries.
Note: Intercampus loans are not available for TexShare borrowers or students in the ELS or Hawk Connection programs.
Current UHCL students, faculty, and staff are eligible to obtain a TexShare card at Neumann Library or the UHCL Pearland Library. A TexShare card gives you borrowing privileges with over 500 participating libraries in Texas. Search the Texshare Find a Library page to see if the library you wish to borrow from is in the program.
To obtain a TexShare card, you must have no current overdues or fines on your library account. TexShare cards are free.
If no University of Houston library has the item you need, you may submit an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request. UHCL Library will attempt to acquire the item from another library. ILL requests may be made for both books and articles.
Interlibrary Loan is available for all UHCL students, faculty, and staff who have no current overdues or fines. If you are affiliated with another UH campus, or another college or university, please use the ILL services at your home campus' library.
Titles that are prescribed as course textbooks at UHCL are not available for ILL.
Note: Interlibrary loan is not available for TexShare borrowers, community borrowers, lifetime alumni, or students in the ELS or Hawk Connection programs.
UHCL faculty, students, and staff may borrow materials from Rice University's Fondren Library through On-Site Interlibrary Loan.
Permission to use the On-Site Interlibrary Loan service must be obtained on a case-by-case basis from Neumann Library before borrowing materials from Rice. Your library account must be clear of billed items or fines to use the service.
View more details about On-Site Interlibrary Loan borrower privileges at the Fondren Library On-Site ILL page.
If you are a UHCL student or staff member and wish to obtain an On-Site Interlibrary Loan from Rice, please visit the Neumann Library circulation desk or contact us at library-cl-circdesk.edu or 281-283-3939.
