Dissertation Formatting: Home

This is an entry guide for questions about formatting and printing your dissertation, as well as submitting it to the library.

Dissertation Format Checks & Submissions

Overview

During the last semester of your doctoral program you will need to visit the library on (at least) two separate occasions. First, you will need to bring your dissertation to us for a format check during which a librarian will review your manuscript to ensure it meets the formatting specification outlined in the School of Education's Dissertation Guide. Format checks are conducted face to face and by appointment only. Most format checks last 30 minutes to 1 hour. Significant formatting errors or omissions may delay the process and necessitate follow-up appointments. Once the manuscript has passed the library format check, it may be submitted for approval to the Offices of the Associate Dean and Dean.

The second library visit will be when you bring in copies of your dissertation to be bound and digitized. You should not schedule this visit until all the required changes to your dissertation have been made and it has been approved by your committee, the Associate Dean, and the Dean. Dissertation submission visits are usually short, 10 to 15 minutes.
